Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How does Valix measure heart rate without touching?

Valix uses a technology called remote photoplethysmography (rPPG). Your phone's camera detects subtle changes in skin color caused by blood flow changes. Our algorithms analyze these color variations to estimate your heart rate and blood pressure.

What do I need for accurate measurements?

For best results:

  • Good, even lighting (avoid harsh shadows or direct sunlight)
  • Stay still during measurement
  • Ensure your face is clearly visible in the camera
  • Remove glasses if they cause glare
  • Clean camera lens for clear images

How accurate are the measurements?

Valix provides estimates for wellness purposes only. Accuracy varies based on lighting conditions, movement, and individual characteristics. While many users find results helpful for tracking trends, Valix is not a medical device and should not be used for medical diagnosis.

Technical Issues

Why am I getting "No Reliable Reading"?

This usually happens when:

  • Too much movement during measurement
  • Poor lighting conditions (too dark or too bright)
  • Face tracking issues (face not clearly visible)
  • Camera lens is dirty or smudged

Try improving lighting conditions, staying still, and ensuring your face is clearly visible.

The app isn't detecting my face properly

Try these solutions:

  • Ensure good, even lighting on your face
  • Remove face masks or obstructions
  • Position your face in the center of the frame
  • Hold the phone steady at eye level
  • Clean the camera lens
  • Restart the app if issues persist

How do I sync with Apple Health?

To enable Apple Health sync:

  1. Go to Settings in the app
  2. Toggle "Apple Health" to on
  3. Grant permission when prompted
  4. If already enabled, try turning it off and on again

Note: You'll need to grant permission for both heart rate and blood pressure data.

Privacy & Data

Where is my health data stored?

All your health data is stored locally on your device. No data is sent to our servers or third parties. Only you have access to your measurements. If you enable Apple Health sync, data is shared only with Apple Health on your device.

Can I export my data?

Yes! You can export all your measurement history from the Settings screen. Tap "Export All Data" to receive a CSV file with your complete measurement history that you can save or share.

Is my camera data recorded or stored?

No. The camera feed is processed in real-time and is not recorded or stored. Only the numerical measurement results are saved to your device.
